Pulmonary Function Testing

Pulmonary Function Testing (also known as Spirometry and Lung Function Testing) is a series of non-invasive, simple tests that measure how well your lungs work. From these tests, our physicians are able to get a better understanding of how well you are able to breathe and how well your lungs supply oxygen to the rest of your body. While these tests are primarily part of routine physical examinations, they can also be performed if you are having symptoms of other lung problems.

Pulmonary Function Tests can Help Diagnose the Following:

  • Asthma
  • Allergies
  • Chronic Bronchitis
  • Respiratory Infections
  • Emphysema
  • Lung Fibrosis
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Lung Cancer

In terms of diagnosis, these tests are primarily first steps in diagnosing more serious conditions. Once the test is performed, your physician may recommend additional tests, which can be performed at our main office location, on Arlington Blvd. in Greenville, NC.
