About

Carol Gates graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science in biology, and achieved her associate degree in nursing from Tidewater Community College.   She attended Fayetteville State University, graduating with a bachelor’s in nursing.   She received her doctorate in nursing from East Carolina University, and she has received certification as a family nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Prior to joining Physicians East, Ms. Gates worked at Wintergreen Medical Center Independent Family Practice.

When away from work, she enjoys being with her family and friends.  She loves cooking, traveling, helping others, outdoor activities, and completing do-it-yourself projects around the home.
